A side table for FÓLK Reykjavík that uses Solid Textile Board from Kvadrat Really. Solid Textile Board is a high-density material made from end-of-life textiles and cut offs from danish textile company Kvadrat. "Considering current textile waste streams, the board is made up of cotton and wool as these textiles are typically downgraded in existing recycling processes."
I experimented with asymmetrical forms in this design as well as using the wooden shelf from the Urban Nomad nomad collection and recycled steel as seen in the same collection.
Materials: Solid Textile Board, European FSC certified wood and recycled steel.
Dwell Magazine selected the Upcycled Side Table as one of the best upcycled products of 2020. See Dwell's online coverage here. "Icelandic designer Jón Helgi Hólmgeirsson’s side table for Fólk is composed of geometric forms made of upcycled wool textile boards, recycled steel, and FSC-certified ash wood. It comes flat packed and can be assembled in just five minutes."
